HELL

IS THERE A PLACE CALLED HELL?

Yes.

Everyday, somewhere in the world, sometime, people, old and young speak of Hell

Hell  (this)..’ or,Hell (that)..’.

The use of the word ‘hell’ as a swear/cuss word is evidence of an inward unconscious acknowledgment of its existence.

How can we be so sure?  Solomon says that God has put eternity**(see footnotes) in the heart of man (Ecclesiastes 3:11).  Eternity consists of a place for the righteous in Jesus Christ – (Paradise) Heaven, God‘s dwelling place, Jesus calls it ‘My Father house’,

and

two places for those who do not accept the righteousness of Jesus ChristHell (Hades, Gehenna), and the Lake of Fire.

People freely use the name of Christ, Jesus, God as a swear word almost everyday.  But do they so use the names of other religious leaders in the same way?

Oh, but some one may say,  Hell is  just a swear word

Yes it is a swear word…to many…far too many.

But WHY is it a swear word?

Why?

Hell is a Biblical fact – truth.

The Devil is a Biblical fact. He is a very real intelligent being who masquerades as something he is not.  And as the Deceiver, one of his chief aims is to convince people in their rational minds that the spiritual reality as written in the Holy Bible, does not exist, except whatever you may interpret  it to be.  One way the Devil does this is to get people to use a spiritual fact or truth as a swear word.  It becomes so common and vulgar to them, that of course… it can’t be real.  And ‘hell‘ is a prime example.

If we speak of a fact in a dismissive or demeaning way long enough we will eventually have little regard for the reality which that word inplies.

If one speaks of their mother in a very loose and disrespectful way no matter who she is or what she has done, eventually that manner of  speech will become more established in the soul of that person towards their mother.  And behaviour will follow, to suit that thought process.  The same applies to the word ‘heaven’.  It is used so informally, so sensually, as in ‘That’s  heavenly‘ when speaking of something very temporal and trite such as a cake or an icecream, or a chocolate bar, that the very reality of Heaven, for many even in the church has become very dim indeed.

Jesus said that because sin shall abound,

the love of many (toward God) will grow cold..Matthew 24:12

And so the intrinsic value of such terms is lost.   When that has happened, it will affect the way we  think and behave.   Man is a fool to undervalue the things that will remain, long after the temporal things that he highly values and possesses….vanish.  And vanish they will, and are vanishing.

John the apostle says And the world is passing away, and its lust. But the one doing the will of God abides forever.  1John 1:17 LITV  Those things are in the process of decay.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS ARE DECEIVED

One of the big lies of the Devil is PURGATORY….

WHILE EVERY BODY IN HELL KNOWS IT IS A LIE, AS  DOES THE DEVIL HIMSELF.

Purgatory is a pompous lie told by Popes, and spread about among all those who are subject to the Popes – the ‘faithful’.  But the teachers of the Roman Catholic dogma are very clever and are able to mix truth with error, and not just them of course…we are all capable of doing that.  One we must be very diligently on guard against mixing evil with good.

But JESUS NEVER mixed truth with error.

JESUS said Follow Me! (Matthew 9:9)- (do as I do, and say as I say)

Nor by the way, did Peter mix evil with good after that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the assembled disciples in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost (though Scripture does record one instance where Peter was publicly hypocritical, and Paul rebuked him before all those present ..Galatians 2.  Peter was the apostle to the Jews, Paul says.

And Peter, also said that we are to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:21).

“Indulgences these days are granted to those who carry out certain tasks – such as climbing the Sacred Steps, in Rome (reportedly brought from Pontius Pilate’s house after Jesus scaled them before his crucifixion), a feat that earns believers seven years off purgatory.

But attendance at events such as the Catholic World Youth Day, in Rio de Janeiro, a week-long event starting on 22 July, can also win an indulgence.

Mindful of the faithful who cannot afford to fly to Brazil, the Vatican’s sacred apostolic penitentiary, a court which handles the forgiveness of sins, has also extended the privilege to those following the “rites and pious exercises” of the event on television, radio and through social media.” http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/16/vatican-indulgences-pope-francis-tweets

This is a deceitful practice by the Vatican’s leaders.  Hundreds of millions of ‘simple’ people are led astray by false teachers and F A L S E  ‘christs’.

Jesus said that many would come in the Last Days….BEWARE!  DO NOT LET ANYONE DECEIVE YOU.  For many will come in My nameMatthew 24:4, 5.

One web site (see end for link) goes to great length about the subject of Purgatory arguing its validity, at the end of which is the stamp of approval by a high official in the Roman Catholic system.  They say  “Monica, mother of Augustine, who asked her son, in the fourth century, to remember her soul in his Masses. This would make no sense if she thought her soul would not benefit from prayers, as would be the case if she were in hell or in the full glory of heaven.”

Their case is built on Augustine’s mother, and on ancient ‘Jewish’ practice, and some of the early fathers, and on the silence of Scripture, and the like.  And just because some mere human says a thing, does that make it a fact?  No doubt Nimrod (and his mother) of Tower of Babel fame also prayed for the dead.

Another quote (see footnotes) “Prayers are not needed by those in heaven, and no one can help those in hell. That means some people must be in a third condition, at least temporarily (emphasis added)  once again, a mixture of truth and error.  The first sentence stands alone.  That is all they needed to say.  The second is a false assumption.

“The missionary history of the [Catholic] Church clearly shows her adaptability to all races, all continents, all nations. In her liturgy and her art, in her tradition and the forming of her doctrine, naturally enough she includes Jewish elements, but also elements that are of pagan origin.” Twentieth Century Encyclopedia of Catholicism (emphasis added)

And now…

“VATICAN CITY — Purgatory is like a purifying fire burning inside a person, a painful experience of regret for one’s sins, Pope Benedict XVI said.

“A soul stained by sin cannot present itself to God,” the pope said Jan. 12 at his weekly general audience.” http://ncronline.org/news/vatican/purgatory-process-not-place-pope-says

Friends, God has already provided the ONLY remedy for your sins in Jesus Christ– the Lamb of God who took away your sins when He was nailed to the cross.

THERE IS NO OTHER REMEDY

His blood which was at one time offered and can never be offered in any other way or by any other means, human or otherwise, again, is the only thing that can wash away your sins from before God.  Read John 1:7-9.

And the devil said I will be like the Most High?  – (Isaiah 14:14).

Unless they repent they will not be going to purgatory…for God knows there is no such place, they will go where all unrepentant sinner go,  to Hell, then after to the Lake of Fire.  They will suffer eternal punishment…not as some suppose eternal annihilation.

And do not think that God does not weep for His disobedient children.

God weeps for His children…

…”Come out from among them My people,

says the Lord,

and be you separate,

touch not the unclean thing,

and I will receive you.”

2 Corinthians 6:17;

see also Revelation 18:4.

READ NUMBERS 16

“Separate yourselves from the midst of this company, and I will consume them in a moment…. And he spoke to the congregation, saying, Please turn away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything that they have, lest you be consumed in all their sins. And they got away from around the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out, standing at the door of their tents, and their wives, their sons, and their infants.” Numbers 16:24, 26, 27

But Jesus Christ died so that no one ought to be

lost forever without their Maker and Creator.

Let’s make it simple: Jesus was very plain about Heaven.  Very straight-foward. Jesus was very plain and straight-forward about Hell.  And also the Lake of Fire as John was told centuries later on the Isle of Patmos.  Jesus said NOTHING about a place after death called ‘purgatory.  If there had have been such a place He would have told us.  Jesus hid nothing… nothing that was needful for us to know.   Nor did His apostles who saw Him, and who heard Him speak to them before His death and  after His resurrection,  neither did Paul to whom Jesus appeared and spoke on the road to Damascus.

Listen,

because Jesus and His twelve apostles

(Judas having been replaced), were while they were alive,

and still are

the spiritual foundation of the Church – the called out ones,

of Jesus Christ through their teaching (Ephesians 2:19-20),

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BELIEVE IN A PURGATORY AFTER DEATH!!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BELIEVE IN A PURGATORY AFTER DEATH!!

The Pope has no authority apart from a usurped authority.

He is not the voice of Jesus Christ Almighty.

Not even Peter the apostle of Jesus Christ claimed such a thing.

He is a mere man whose breath is in the hand of the Living Holy God, and God will require this man’s life.  Then this man who claims to be ‘god’ on earth will see who really is God.

The pope is a god because people worship him, and he loves it and does not rebuke anyone for doing so.

This Peter never did.

Listen to what Peter the apostle of our Lord Jesus Christ said to a Roman Centurian

who fell down at his feet to worship Peter…

“And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.  But Peter took up (forced him to stand up) saying, Stand up!  I myself also am a man.” (Acts 10:25, 26)

Jesus said to the people, Unless you repent and He meant repent in this life, you will likewise perish. (Luke 13:3- 5).  Repentance is  required in this life, while we have breath in our bodies and while we have full  control of our faculties and our circumstance.

Read the Scriptures.  That is the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His apostles.

But, just for arguments sake. LET US SUPPOSE that the ‘Popes’ are right on this ‘purgatory’ idea.  If you do not believe in purgatory and die as a good Catholic, and it just so happens that there is such a place, it will be a bonus for you…won’t it…you will get some more time to be purged from your “venial sins” (see footnotes), and other sundry matters, as they put it, so that would mean you can get to Heaven after all.  Nice!!!???  No harm  done.

But if….

THEY ARE WRONG….

and you are trusting in a lie,

and find out after death THERE IS NO purging place,

NO PURGATORY,

then you will have been deceived,

but IT WILL BE TOO LATE.  YOU WILL HAVE GONE STRAIGHT TO HELL.

And Rome’s teachers admit thatno one can help those in hell”

NO ONE

CAN HELP THOSE

IN HELL!!

Do not be deceived…

God is not mocked.

Whatever a man sows,

that shall he also reap.

Jesus was emphatic about Heaven, and about Hellhades, the place where departed human spirits go when their mortal body dies.  It is this place that Jesus tells us about the rich man who ignored Lazarus the beggar – Luke 16:23.  It is this place where the fires of hell raged upon the rich man and he pleaded with Abraham for some relief but there was none.  “And in Hell, being in torments…”

Abraham had to tell him that none could go from one place to the other, because God had put a great chasm between the two distinct places, the place of blesssedness and Hell.

Jesus was also emphatic about Gehenna – another Greek word for Hell, a place of eternal fire and punishment.  Jesus was emphatic about great rejoicing, honour and glory in  Heaven, and unending suffering, torments, anguish, gnashing of teeth – in Hell.  He says nothing about a ‘purgatory’…and on this silence the popes and their spin doctors build their case for it.  Jesus’ silence on ‘purgatory‘ does not prove that the place exists.  Anyone can say because nobody has mentioned (.?..) a thing, therefore that (..?.) thing exists.    Purgatory exists in the minds of those who will not believe Jesus Christ.  If you do not love the truth  and seek it with all your heart, you will believe a lie.

Jesus said – Follow Me!  (Matthew 9:9)

He alone will and can save you.

Believe and obey Him

Please don’t trust in a man, no matter what he wears.

Trust only in God.

Not even the great apostle Peter said, Trust me.  He told the people to trust in Jesus Christ.  Any mortal man who says Trust me, I alone can give you sound wisdom..I alone can help you to understand the Scriptures and no one else can …or words to that effect is a deceiver.

BELIEVE THEM NOT!!

The word  Hell occurs in the KJV Bible 54 times.  31 times in the old testament, and 23 times in the new testament, and occuring in 17 books of the Bible.  But there are many other times Hell is referred to by other phrases as well.  The English word for Hell in the New Testament has two Greek words, hades – the place of departed spirits, and gehenna, the place of (unending) eternal punishment.

The first mention of Hell in the Holy Bible (KJV) is in Deuteronomy 32:22 –For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.”
This passage is part of a song that God told Moses to teach the children of Israel so they would not forget it, and that it would be forever a testimony against them if ever they would turn their backs on serving and worshipping God ALONE.

So at the very outset it is God through Moses who tells us that God Himself has kindled the fires of Hell, and that it has levels descending to its depths, and in each level God‘s holy wrath burns justly against all wickedness.

So don’t go there My children! says the Lord God Almighty.

Flee from the wrath to come.

Flee unto Jesus Christ the Lord

Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of God and Son of man, who came from Heaven from the Father‘s presence, tells us that Hell was made for the devil and his angels – Matthew 25:41  – “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels“.

Hell is a place that was made exclusively for the devil and his angels.  It was never God‘s intention for any one made in God‘s image and likeness to end up in that place of eternal terror.

God Almighty DOES NOT WANT anyone to go to Hell.  People tell each other that.  They do so because their tongues are tools of the devil, and not tools for the glory of God.  And people go there because they wanted nothing or little to do with God who is revealed in Jesus Christ in this life.  What you really want, you will get.  What you really sow in this life you will get in the next.  If you refuse Jesus Christ as your God, your Lord and your Saviour, you cannot have anything good that belongs to Him in the next life…the spiritual life.  If you die refusing, or procrastinating about Jesus Christ, you will not enjoy His company and blessings later when it really matters.

To be void of Jesus Christ after death is to be void of eternal life in Jesus Christ, and all His blessings which He has made provision for through His death on the cross in your place when He took your sins and your sorrows, and sicknesses, and all the curse of the Law against you upon Himself, for your sake that you may have His life in your spirit – now, and for eternity.  He took your punishment and offers you His righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.  You have to receive it freely and willingly.  He does not force it on you my friend.  But you must confess and forsake all your sins, secret and known, and cast yourself on His mercy which is unfailing, just as His love is.

In Isaiah God says “There is no peace, says the Lord, to the wicked.”  (48:22 and 57:21).

Jesus Christ is our Peace – Ephesians 2:14.  Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace – Isaiah 9:6.  Jesus Christ does not dwell in Hell…it is not His home.  If you do not want Jesus Christ here in this life you cannot have His peace when your soul gets pulled out of your body of flesh – Job 27:8; Ecclestiastes 12:6.

Hell is a place of restlessness.  It is a place of unending grief.  It is a place of turmoil  and wretchedness.  It is a place of darkness and gloominess.  Hell is a place for those who refused God the Father and His Son Jesus ChristJesus Christ is our Peace – Ephesians 2:14.

Hell is a place which accomodates for every kind of wickedness ever devised.  There is no good thing in Hell.  There is no antidote.  There are no pain killers.  There are no ear muffs.  There are no material comforts.  There is no comfort in that place.  There is no satisfaction or contentment in Hell. There is no clothing in Hell.  Hell and its inhabitants are shamefully naked before God (Job 26:6; alsoRevelation 16:15 – Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”
.  And they are so because they refused God‘s righteous covering for their souls only available through Jesus Christ.

Hell is the complete antithesis – opposite in every respect, of Heaven.  Heaven is the place where God dwells.  Hell is the place where God does not dwell.  God is love – 1 John 4:16.  Love is His nature.   Heaven is one extreme.  Hell is the other extreme.  You must choose today.

There is no love, not even sexual love my friend, in Hell.  There is no love of good friend-ships, or of any kind of enjoyment.  Hell is the pits when it comes to anything good.  Love in its pure sense is good.  Love does not exist in Hell…for God does not dwell there.  Those in Hell long for it…but they can never be satisfied even by pure thoughts about it.  For even the very remembrances of past pure love are tainted with agonies of mind and body beyond description.

God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all – 1 John 1:5.  There is no natural or artifical – man made light in Hell.  There is no spiritual light in HellHell is devoid of any thing good.  Light is good.  God is Light – He is the source of all light for comfort and blessing. Hell is not God‘s dwelling place,  so it has no pleasant light…only the dull light of eternal fires raging thick with black and evil smelling smoke.

In Hell there are no flowers to smell, or gaze upon to give relief, for all those things, man ignored and did not thank and worship his  Creator for, while they surrounded him in this life.

Many people live in the deserts of the earth in this life, so they see little of flowers and things like that of beauty.  But they may have things like trees, one here or there, or small shrubs, and some shade, to lower the temperature somewhat of one tiny spot; they may have a little fruit like date palm or some other luxury from time to time.

But it is not so in HellHell is devoid of any thing good…there is no grass, no shrub, no tree, not even weeds.  For every good thing somes down from the Father of lights, and God the Father of lights  (James 1:17) does not dwell in Hell.  In Hell you can’t even satisfy your fleshly sinfilled desires.  For the time of temptation has passed, the time of seducing is passed; the time of plotting and planning and conniving for selfish, and other evil intents have passed.  Hell is not a place where you will be tempted to do evil.  Temptations are exclusive to earth bound mankind.  Hell is the place of irrevocable and eternal and holy judgment of God upon all who wanted to live without Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour GodHell in the end will along with Death, be cast into the LAKE OF FIRE – Revelation 19:20; and  20:14, 15.  That is the final dwelling of all who do not obey the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  What do you want?

Make no mistake about it my friends, God is very generous in His rewards.  He rewards according to the work done on earth.  Solomon says in the wisdom of GodFor God shall bring every work into judgment, with all that is hidden, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.”  Ecclesiastes 12:14, see also Psalm 61:12  We have as long as we live on earth the right or freedom to choose an eternal reward while we are living and able to make choices for right or wrong, good or evil according to God‘s standards.

Proverbs 9:18But he does not know that the departed spirits are there; her guests are in the depths of Hell” (LITV) ‘he’ or ‘she’ – those who are seduced into sexual sins by an unfaithful woman or man, a harlot, prostitute,  homosexual, an adulterer or fornicator – including masturbation, or even run after it themselves, will if they do not repent while they yet live,  go to the place where the rewards for such people are.

The inhabitants of Hell long with cursings and agonies for Heaven.  But that longing is forever unsatisfied.

Matthew 5:29 “But if your right eye offends you, take it out and throw it from you, for it is profitable to you that one of your members should perish and all your body not be thrown into Hell

Matthew 10:28 “And you should not fear the ones killing the body, but not being able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him being able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.

Psalm 9:17 “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

Proverbs 7:27 “Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”

Proverbs 27:20Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”

Isaiah 5:14Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.”

Isaiah 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.”

Isaiah 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

Revelation 1:18 “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Jesus Christ has full control over Hell and Death.  All things are under His feet and subject to His sovereign rule and jurisdiction.  You don’t have to go to Hell.  But you will if you refuse Jesus Christ; if you do not submit to His just and loving rule.  To refuse Jesus Christ is to refuse entry into Heaven.

Let me tell  you…no man, no matter the title he claims to hold, can give you access into Heaven.  That is soley and exclusively the right of Yehovah Jesus Christ.  Not even Peter the  apostle of our Lord Jesus has authority to give you entrance into Heaven.  You must surrender your life to Jesus Christ.  You must flee from the wrath to come.  You must repent of all your sinful ways.  Flee from all sin and confess them before Jesus and His Father.  Believe that God will wash away your sins by the blood of Yehoshua – the Lamb of God, according to 1 John 1:9.  Be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ…the Lord Jesus for the remission of sins, calling upon His name – Acts 2:38.  Receive the promise of the Father which He has poured out.  That promise of God is to you.

Jesus the Son of the Most  High God, will be your Refuge in the time of trouble..there is no other place of refuge – safety is but in Jesus Christ.  Please run to Him today…while you have breath in your body.

FOOTNOTES:

Eternity in their hearts” Ecclesiates 3:11.

http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/eternity.html  has a page dealing with this matter of ‘eternity‘ in the heart of men.  It shows Stong’s Hebrew meanings of the root word.  They also show a number of quotes from various translations/versions, the majority by far not using the word eternity, but one of the other listed words – e.g. knowledge, world.

Sandy Simpson the author says…”So we are left with having to either accept that (1) God put the world in men’s consciousness “so that no man can find out the works of God” or (2) God gave man intelligence and a deep seated knowledge of “eternity” so that man could possibly know God.  But (2) is inconsistent with the Bible that states over and over again that the Gentiles “did not know God” and that we cannot know God without the Holy Spirit revealing God to us through His Word and our acceptance of Jesus Christ and the baptism of the Spirit whereby He creates in us a new man.”

In his conclusion he writes: “The preponderance of translations stating that God “set the world in their heart” are more consistent with the whole counsel of God’s Word.”

Okay…that is his case.  But lets us note a few things.

Sandy makes reference to the fact that the Gentiles did not know God, and uses a number of verses to evidence that truth.  However, there are two basic meanings to the word ‘know’.  1. to know ABOUT something or someone, by learned information; 2. to know EXPERIENTIALLY or, intimately about something or someone, through relationship.

It is plain that no one can know God intimately unless the Holy Spirit reveals God to him, through the glorious Lord and only Saviour God Jesus Christ.  But can, or rather do people know in the depths of their being from the womb that God does exist?  Paul says this is the case…man can know OF  God, though they may have no personal knowledge of the truth of Him.

The fact is that man from the beginning of time…take Cain and Able (Genesis 4) for example…knew of the existence of God, and subsequently offered sacrifices to Him according to their view of God, as perceived through the teaching by their parents – who had known God themselves prior to their fall from innocency and purity; and as by the testimony of God in His handiwork, stars, and all visible creation; and as by the witness in their own consciences as we shall see in a moment.

Why is it that mankind has made a plethora of all kinds of images to worship as ‘God’  if they had no knowledge whatsoever that there was a ‘God’ at all?  Why spend energy, time, and devotion on something that you have no knowledge of, even to the endth degree?  It just does not add up.

Why does man seek worship for himself from other men if he had knowledge of ‘God’.  The very act of such idolatry, whatever the form it takes indicates that man knows intrinsically, deep within his soul that God exists and requires something from him.  But in his darkened ignorance and unbelief he denies what is written on his conscience, the Law of God his Creator, and seeks to satisify the craving of his soul in vanities of a sensual – physical nature.

Paul says that those without the Law, will be judged without the Law, but that they have the Law written on their hearts, even though they ‘knew’ not God. Rom 2:12-15For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.

SHEW THE WORKS OF THE LAW WRITTEN ON THEIR HEARTS, THEIR CONSCIENCE ALSO BEARING WITNESS….!!

Sandy Simpson, men have the Law of God written on their hearts, and their conscience (inner knowledge) bears witness of this fact.  This is Paul’s clear unequivical view.

While Sandy (Simpson) quotes from Romans 1, vs 24, 26, 28, he makes no mention in his brief discussion of verse 19 in which Paul says… “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. ”  Here Paul is speaking of unregenerate Gentiles who defile themselves with all kinds of evil.
Four things to note in this verse.  1) there are ‘things’ which may be known about God.  2) God has made it apparent – manifest to them.  3) for God HAS shown it to them. Obviously this does not include a sweet and tender relationship, nor does it include most of the things pertaining to God, but it does mean that ‘some’ things be it ever so small are know to them because God has shown or declared it up front to them about Himself.  4)  the most telling point may be this little word ‘in‘ and we all know what it means.

Let us have a look at some of the Bible versions Sandy lists in his argument that “eternity” is not a valid contextual entry, and their rendition of Romans 1:19, and the opening phrase of v21 of each.  You be the judge.  These are available via the web using a downloadable version of e -Sword, or Bible Gateway; and perhaps others.

ASV 19 because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them….21 because that, knowing God...”

Darby19 Because what is known of God is manifest among them, for God has manifested [it] to them,…21 Because, knowing God,...”

DRheims 1899 A. “19 Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them… 21 Because that, when they knew God,…”

KJ21 19 because that which may be known of God is manifest in them, for God hath shown it unto them….21 For when they knew God,…”

AKJV19 because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them…. 21 because that, when they knew God,…”

Young’s19 Because that which is known of God is manifest among them, for God did manifest [it] to them,… 21 because, having known God…”

ICB19 God shows his anger because everything that may be known about God has been made clear. Yes, God has clearly shown them everything that may be known about him…. 21 They knew God….”

Orthodox Jewish Bible19 All anashim who, even though what is knowable about Hashem lies plainly before their eyes (for G-d has shown them!), they nevertheless cling to their resha and wickedly suppress HaEmes [of Hashem]….21 Because, even though they in actual fact knew G-d,…”

The first six are but a few of Sandy’s chosen texts for his point.  I have added the ICB and the Orthodox JB as an extra .  The children’s version is plain, written so that children can read and know.  And the OJB is unmistakably clear in v21 “Because, even though they in actual fact knew G’d“.

Though there is a variation in expression, the sense is made very clear.  God manifested something of Himself to all mankind, and that they knew God.  And this without the personal revelation of God by the direct working of the Holy Spirit.  Perhaps Sandy only uses the word know in respect to intimate knowledge of God?

So the argument that Sandy uses about eternity not being the right word for Ecc 3:11 on the basis of Scriptural evidence which he concludes shows that mankind did not know God,  so therefore could not know of eternity, is not as sound as he would like to think.

The above versions show that Paul, whom Sandy uses in his argument, indeed knew very well that mankind DID know God, albeit not intimately, but rather consciously, and rebelled against that knowledge, both in their minds and in their actions.  The very fact that there is still even in unregenerate man a remnant of the image and likeness of God within man’s person is in itself strong enough grounds to say that there would be something of the knowledge of God resident in man, no matter how distant it may be.  Paul says elsewhere that man is willingly ignorant regards God’s wisdom  and truth in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  When one is willingly ignorant it clearly implies conscious  knowledge.

So, this brings me to my conclusion that the use of the word ‘eternity’ in Ecclesiastes 3:11 may well be valid, no matter how ‘hidden’ it is in the heart of man.  The LITV (2001) shows the word eternity in its translation.

Also, according to e-Sword, an electronic software programme for Biblical studies, shows the following re Ecc 3:11.  ASV has ‘eternity‘.  GW has ‘sense of eternity‘.  LITV has ‘eternity‘.  MKJV has ‘eternity‘. and Young’s Literal renders the verse thus. “The whole He hath made beautiful in its season; also, that knowledge He hath put in their heart without which man findeth not out the work that God hath done from the beginning even unto the end.”  Note the words I have underlined.

Young’s Literal translation leads one to think that the ‘knowledge’ (whatever it be) that God has put in man’s heart  is necessary in order for an eventual discovery of the ‘work’ of God He has done.

That knowledge about God may be likened to a seed planted in barren soil.  God commanded the earth to sprout plants with their seeds, etc.  Soil has seed in it, even barren soil, as deserts prove time and again after rare rains come to it.   But if that soil has been deliberately poisoned by human kind long enough, then nothing will grow in it, even though seed may be dormant there.  Remember the parable of our Lord Jesus in Mark 4?  He lists four types of soil on which good seed fell.  Only one type produced well.  But that does not exclude the possibility of the other soils producing likewise if…IF, sufficient soil preparation was made, like hoeing, removal of competing flora, and removal of stones and rocks, etc.  These are natural pictures of spiritual realities.

The whole creation week is a picture of what happens in the spiritual realm regarding man’s regeneration.  Light in the darkness and the dividing thereof; separating waters above and below – distinction between the heavenly and the earthy; a further division between two earthy spheres – seas and land…and so on, to man being made in God’s image and likeness and breathing into him the breath of life.. God taking hold of a person with great care and breathing into them His new life in Christ.
Though man is indeed utterly lost unless God reveals Himself to him, God has something of Himself still within the very soul/heart of mankind which He seeks after to re-possess because He has paid a great price for each and every human soul.

Every man has his own set of fingerprints…this in itself is God’s unique imprint on that man.

The following links and quotes are not necessarily the view of the author of this site.  They are simply placed here as authentic references.  It is this author’s conviction that Roman Catholic doctrine is a mixture of evil and good, and is thus outside God’s pure doctrine as revealed in Holy Scripture through His holy prophets and apostles.

Purgatory – “Prayers are not needed by those in heaven, and no one can help those in hell. That means some people must be in a third condition, at least temporarily.”  (?)  http://www.catholic.com/tracts/purgatory  (emphasis and colour added)

Prayers are not needed by those in heaven, and no one can help those in hell”  Those are the words of Roman Catholic teachers. even cardinals…not mine.  How profound!!

also – ‘One major difference between Protestants and Catholics is that Catholics pray for the dead. As Cardinal Ratzinger said so well, “My view is that if Purgatory did not exist, we should have to invent it.” Why? “Because few things are as immediate, as human and as widespread – at all times and in all cultures – as prayer for one’s own departed dear ones.”  from http://www.stjohn17v20-21.com/prgtry02.htm

Acceptance of this doctrine” (purgatory) “still remains a required belief of Catholic faith. sourced from http://www.stjohn17v20-21.com/prgtry02.htm  (emphasis and colour added)

The very fact that he, Mt Ratzinger has said that ‘we should have to invent it’ in the absence of such a place, is very very troubling to say the least.  This means that ‘we’, the Catholic cardinals would be pressed to invent the idea,  for they – mere man, surely cannot create such a reality.   Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks…Matthew 12:34 “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

If anyone thinks that they can invent a spiritual reality or invent a doctrine in order to satisfy certain minds, is evidence of a deceived heart that seeks to put words in God’s mouth.  The doctrine of God is not a plaything.  It cannot be tampered with.  To misunderstand a portion of God’s doctrine is one thing.   To add to it or take from it to satisfy the lusts of men is another.  God is not mocked.  Repent!

Venial Sins – Roman Catholic teaching…

Catechism describes two main types of venial sin. First, one commits venial sin when “in a less serious matter [than mortal sin], he does not observe the standard prescribed by the moral law” (CCC 1862). In other wThe ords, if one does something immoral but the matter is not serious enough to be gravely immoral, he commits only venial sin.

For example, deliberate hatred can be venial sin or mortal sin depending on the seriousness of the hatred. The Catechism explains, “Hatred of the neighbor is a sin when one deliberately wishes him evil. Hatred of the neighbor is a grave sin when one deliberately desires him grave harm” (CCC 2303).

Another example is abusive language. “Abusive language is forbidden by the fifth commandment but would be a grave offense only as a result of circumstances or the offender’s intention” (CCC 2073).

The second type of venial sin involves situations in which the matter is serious enough to be gravely immoral, but the offense lacks at least one of the other essential elements required for mortal sin. The Catechism explains that one commits only venial sin “when he disobeys the moral law in a grave matter but without full knowledge or without complete consent” (CCC 1862).

An example of this could be masturbation. The Catechism explains:

…To form an equitable judgment about the subjects’ moral responsibility [for masturbation] . . . one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety, or other psychological or social factors that can lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability. (CCC 2352)” …taken fromhttp://www.catholic.com/quickquestions/what-are-some-examples-of-venial-sins

Praying for the dead…??  Pray for the living!!  Work while it is day.  Our spiritual work is to be concerning the living not the dead.  Jesus while yet alive in the deepest agonies of body and soul known to any person, said “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. ”  The reason why Jesus prayed for the living while He was yet alive is that He had to intercede for the living while He was yet alive in His mortal body, just moments before He breathed out His last breath.  He is our perfect example.   It is perfectly alright to pray for the living.  But only Jesus, the resurrected Christ and our great High Priest can intercede for us who remain here on earth, from the other side, for He is God.  When we leave this mortal life our work is finished!!  As it is also finished for those who have gone.

Jesus Christ said that ALL sins shall be forgiven men (mankind) except the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit…  Matthew 12:31, 32 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”

Galatians 5: tells us as  do other passages that those who die in unrepentant sins will not inherit the kingdom of God.  To die with a consious knowledge of unrepentant sin – sin as God defines it, not some church, is to die in sin.  To break a law means that we have broken the law.  God’s Law in Jesus Christ, is written on our hearts, as well as in the Holy Bible…get to know your Bible…read it…get one, a good one if you can afford it.  Ask God to help you make a wise choice of ‘Bible’.   Find out for yourself what God says about sin and righteousness while you can.

Don’t leave it any longer friend…repent today from all your sins, and flee unto Jesus Christ…while you may.  Don’t trust in princes or popes.  Trust in the Living God alone.

You choose whom you will believe and serve,

as for me and my house we shall believe the Lord Jesus Christ,

and Him only shall we serve,

for He alone is the express image and essence of the Father (Hebrews 1:1-3),

who is God over all (Romans 9:5)

Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. (1 Corinthians 15:24)

He who honours the Son also honours the Father (John 5:23)
